Battlefield 3 Beta access

Pre-Order NOW and get the Beta 48hrs early!

Previously the only way to guarantee getting on the Battlefield 3 beta was through purchasing the Medal of Honour limited edition game, but now comes news that Origin (previously EADownloader) will also be offering up beta access; an exclusive only being offered if you pre-order BF3 with them.

Although I’m a big fan of physical media (it’s often cheaper!) this could be one where I could be swayed; but at £7 more expensive than at www.play.com it’s a tough choice!

So I caved in and have pre-ordered from Origin – even though it was more expensive (well I think I ordered it – I got an error at the final ‘pay’ page! – Not a good start but I did get a confirmation email and it IS showing in my Origin list of games 😉 = bring on the Beta.

Looking back through my Origin history I can see I actually bought 2142 and Northern Strike, along with all the Battlefield 2 Add-ons (but not Battlefield 2 itself) through what was then called EADownloader.

It’s a shame that I could not buy via STEAM(where alot of my other games are) but due to some restrictions they have in place it is not going to be available via that platform.

Some great new footage is available coming from Gamescom; showing both Aerial combat, a new 64 player map called Caspian border and CO-OP Mode!

    Some news from http://bf3blog.com/2011/09/nvidia-preparing-special-drivers-for-battlefield-3-beta/

The Battlefield 3 beta is less than a week away, and graphics card maker Nvidia revealed to us that they plan to release brand new, custom drivers just in time for the Battlefield 3 beta. The new, Battlefield 3-specific GeForce drivers are set to arrive on September 26, a day ahead of the beta release. The drivers will make sure the game (beta) runs smooth with no driver incompatibilities, something which happened with the Bad Company 2 beta last year.

The new drivers will also make sure the beta can take full advantage of Nvidia hardware, with the ability to max out features such as Tesselation. The drivers will also bring better performance across the board on Nvidia GeForce graphics cards.
