REVIEW: Corsair Vengeance C70 (Arctic White) by James

Date: 2 August 2012
Corsair Vengeance C70 Reviewer’s thoughts

Overall the Corsair Vengeance C70 (Arctic White) has put in a good showing here at pcGameware and I’ve really warmed to it over the last week or so. The case came well packaged and the case’s Military (Ammo box) theme makes for a particulary striking design (I really quite like it!).

REVIEW: CM Storm Quick Fire Pro by David

Date: 28 July 2012
CM Storm Quick Fire Pro Reviewers thoughts

The CM Storm Quick Fire Pro came well packaged in a nice black box and I really liked the overall design and build of the keyboard with its overall black colouring scheme. The keyboard itself was relatively small compared to my existing Logitech LX 700 but weighed approximately 200g more. This additional weight together with the rubber feet on the bottom certainly made the keyboard very stable…

REVIEW: Dell U2711 (Revision A12) by James

Date: 25 July 2012
Dell U2711 Reviewers thoughts

The Dell U2711 (Revision A12) has put in an good showing here at pcGameware and I’m really impressed. The monitor came well packaged and protected and it was nice that no assembly was necessary. The monitor features a raft of connections options, along with a USB hub and a built in card reader. The stand allows for both Height, Tilt and Swivel and remains wobble free at all times.

REVIEW: MSI 990FXA-GD80 by David

Date: 21 July 2012
MSI 990FXA-GD80 Reviewers thoughts

The MSI 990FXA-GD80 came well packed with lots of accessories, manuals and additional software. The overall build quality of the motherboard seemed to be of a very high standard together with the use of Class 2 Military Components. I had no issues with any of the design (the blue matched well with other existing components) or layout of the motherboard and the installation into my Corsair Carbide 300R case went very smoothly.

REVIEW: ASRock Fatal1ty Z77 Pro by James

Date: 18 July 2012
ASRock Fatal1ty Z77 Pro Reviewers thoughts

The ASRock Z68 Fatal1ty Pro came well packaged (not quite as well as the Z68 version) and has a very well laid out board design and even features Floppy and IDE controllers! The board looks particularly smart and is a great basis for a red themed rig. Other notable features of the board are the on-board Power and Reset buttons along with the Debug LED (these really are useful!) although I have to admit, I haven’t used it during the testing of this board, thankfully!

REVIEW: HIS 7850 IceQ X 2GB by David

Date: 14 July 2012
HIS 7850 IceQ X 2GB Reviewers thoughts

The HIS 7850 IceQ X 2GB has certainly impressed me during my time with it and is definitely deserving of the highest award available here at pcGameware. The overall build quality is simple but practical and the honeycomb design around the fan area is certainly going to be a matter of preference. The black plastic outer casing could have been made a bit more stylish…

REVIEW: CM Storm Sentinel Advance II by James

Date: 12 July 2012
CM Storm Sentinel Advance II Reviewers thoughts

It really seems that the CM Storm Sentinel Advance II has it all; it comes nicely packaged, has a fair price (approx £50 at the time of review) and comes with a 2 year warranty. It’s got a sleek yet curvaceous ergonomic design that while designed for right handers (and a palm style of grip), was still found to be comfortable in use…

REVIEW: HIS 7870 IceQ GHz Edition by Mark

Date: 2 July 2012
HIS 7870 IceQ GHz Edition Reviewers thoughts

The HIS 7870 IceQ GHz Edition has been a pleasure to work with from start to finish. Admittedly the iTurbo graphics card assistant and poor instructions are the only real negatives (albeit minor), but ignoring these issues the card has been a dream come true. If I could ignore the iTurbo assistant and poor instructions I suspect I would be giving the 1st perfect all 10 pcGameware score.

REVIEW: Razer Tiamat 7.1 by James

Date: 26 June 2012
Razer Tiamat 7.1 Reviewers thoughts

I must admit that I was really looking forward to testing out the Razer Tiamat 7.1 headset because as far as features go, the Tiamat has the lot. TRUE 7.1 Surround Sound with 5 drivers per ear-cup, Noise-filtering microphone and a control box that puts all others to shame. What’s even more impressive is that it manages to pack in 5 drivers per ear-cup and still weighs in at only 357 grams.

REVIEW: Zalman Z11 Plus by David

Date: 22 June 2012
Zalman Z11 Plus Reviewers thoughts

Sadly my experience with the Zalman Z11 Plus has not been plain sailing. The installation took way longer than it should have done and became very frustrating in the end, but when finally assembled and up and running the futuristic case design did look very nice, together with its 3d like acrylic side panel and blue LED lighting.

REVIEW: Corsair Vengeance 2000 by James

Date: 19 June 2012
Corsair Vengeance 2000 Reviewers thoughts

The Corsair Vengeance 2000 headset has put up an impressive fight for the best headset tested to date crown, in fact its put up such a good fight I think I’m willing to award it that accolade (for now that is!). It’s beautifully built with quality materials, it’s well designed and feels like it will last and obviously comes with Corsair’s highly regarded backup and support network.

REVIEW: Gelid GX-7 by David

Date: 16 June 2012
Gelid GX-7 Reviewers thoughts

The Gelid GX-7 CPU cooler has certainly given my current Corsair A50 a run for its money. The overall quality and design of both the heat sink and fan are excellent and the addition of the PWM control and LED lighting is also a nice touch. I did run into a problem with the spring loaded nuts during installation however (might just be an AMD related issue), but…

REVIEW: Turtle Beach Ear Force Z6A by Mark

Date: 14 June 2012
Turtle Beach Ear Force Z6A Reviewers thoughts

I have spent the last few days trying to think of what else I can say about the sound quality of the Turtle Beach Ear Force Z6A headset and have come to the conclusion that the first two sentences in the Sound Quality section of the hardware performance say everything I want to say. The sound quality is excellent and the headset provides a rich deep sound whether…

REVIEW: Kingston HyperX T1 (1866MHz) 8GB by David

Date: 11 June 2012
Kingston HyperX T1 (1866MHz) 8GB Reviewers thoughts

The Kingston HyperX T1 (1866MHz) 8GB memory modules have impressed me. They are smart to look at and well built and you certainly won’t find yourself grimacing as you push down hard on the heat-spreaders to insert them into the DIMM slots either! The only negative point is that the additional height caused by the heat-spreader design may conflict…

REVIEW: Corsair Dominator-GT (1866MHz) 8GB by James

Date: 09 June 2012
Corsair Dominator-GT (1866MHz) 8GB Reviewers thoughts

The Corsair Dominator-GT 8GB (CMT8GX3M2A1866C9) modules have performed remarkably well in the time I have spent with them. From the outset it was clear that these modules had been built with real purpose, they’re beautifully made and ooze a degree of quality. The optional Airflow module is equally well made but I’m unsure whether it’s really needed…

REVIEW: Kingston HyperX 3K 120GB by David

Date: 06 June 2012
Kingston HyperX 3K 120GB Reviewers thoughts

I’ve really enjoyed my time with the Kingston HyperX 3K 120GB which has performed well and has put my current Western Digital Caviar Blue 500GB to shame (but that’s to be expected I guess as technology advances further and there are now no moving parts!).

REVIEW: Hazro HZ30Wie by James

Date: 29 May 2012
Hazro HZ30Wie Reviewers thoughts

The Hazro HZ30Wie is yet another excellent monitor, in the tradition of Hazro the panel is what it’s all about. There is only one input (DVI-D) and there are no image adjustments/settings other than Brightness, but considering you’ve just saved around £250 over its nearest rival (that uses the same panel!) I think that the HZ30Wie represents excellent value for money at around £700.

REVIEW: Asus VS247H by David

Date: 25 May 2012
Asus VS247H Reviewers thoughts

Overall, I’ve enjoyed my time with the Asus VS247H which has certainly put my old monitor to shame, probably because of the high contrast and LED backlighting. This is the first time I’ve used a Full HD display for PC gaming although I have used one for some time now when it comes to my console gaming which I run on a Full HD 3D TV.

REVIEW: Razer Naga Hex by James

Date: 22 May 2012
Razer Naga Hex Reviewers thoughts

Over the 7 days that I have spent with the Razer Naga Hex I have slowly warmed to this rather special mouse.

The mouse comes well presented and packaged and once out of the box the mouse looks even better with it’s glossy green metallic finish. Power up the mouse and the green lighting set the whole thing of beautifully. There’s no doubt that this is a quality item, as we have come to expect from Razer…

REVIEW: Mionix Naos 3200 by David

Date: 18 May 2012
Mionix Naos 3200 Reviewers thoughts

The Mionix Naos 3200 mouse at £38 represents pretty good value for money, although there were some things I felt could have been improved. The mouse has a solid design and build and I really like its sleek black looks. It feels very soft and is comfortable to hold for long periods of gaming due to its rubber moulding. The mouse is quite light and although it doesn’t feature any weight management system, I had no…

REVIEW: Tt eSPORTS Shock One by James

The Tt eSPORTS Shock One headset is a well made and well designed headset, it’s packaging is more than adequate and it comes nicely presented. It also has a host of features that include Virtual surround sound, a noise cancelling mic, interchangeable ear-pads and a smart, well thought out control box. Cyborg V.7 Reviewers thoughts

So finally, you have made it to the final thoughts or you have just skipped to the conclusion and missed out on a whole wealth of information!? The Cyborg V.7 really does come with a whole raft of features, so I really did feel I should try to cover them all!

REVIEW: MSI GTX 680 TWIN FROZR (OC Edition) by James

Date: 8 May 2012
MSI GTX 680 TWIN FROZR (OC Edition) Reviewers thoughts

The MSI GTX 680 TWIN FROZR (OC Edition) is the first new Nvidia Kepler based card that we have seen here at pcGameware, and its put in a rather impressive showing. This card is not based on the reference design and comes with the now common MSI Twin Frozr heatsink, this is a smart affair as it doesn’t rely on massive fans or heatsinks to do its job, a job it does well.

REVIEW: Plantronics Gamecom 780 by David

Date: 4 May 2012
Plantronics Gamecom 780 Reviewers thoughts

Overall, I think the Plantronics Gamecom 780 headset represents really good value for money considering it also features 7.1 virtual surround sound. The packaging was sufficiently well designed with its black and orange look and the ability to see the headset from the outset via its clear window was nice. The headset was easy to install and there were no issues with the required software…

REVIEW: Corsair H100 by James

Date: 1 May 2012
Corsair H100 Reviewers thoughts

The Corsair H100 has performed flawlessly throughout testing and I have witnessed the lowest temp recorded in the 4.8GHz test! Just take a look at those temperatures and let them speak for themselves.

It would appear that Corsair has a real winner on their hands here; we have a well designed and constructed closed loop liquid cooler, that’s…

REVIEW: Corsair Carbide 400R by Mark

Date: 25 April 2012
Corsair Carbide 400R Reviewers thoughts

The Corsair Carbide 400R Mid Tower Case is a solid well made case with good overall cooling and expansion capacity.

The position of the front fan light switch, above the cases reset switch; and the flimsy separator bar between the motherboards backing plate aperture and its top expansion slot are the only minor flaws I could find in the cases construction.

REVIEW: Thermaltake Level 10 GT by James

Thermaltake Level 10 GT Reviewers thoughts

Impressed, very impressed I am (hold on I sound like Yoda!); the Thermaltake Level 10 GT impresses on all fronts, of course the styling may not be to everyone’s taste, but there is real function behind its bold design and I for one really like it. I like it as it’s not afraid of being different it’s not like all of the other cases out there, it’s something, well, special.

REVIEW: Logitech Wireless Gaming Headset G930 by Mark

Date: 5 April 2012
Logitech Wireless Gaming Headset G930 Reviewers thoughts

This headset is extremely comfortable to wear and for long gaming sessions that is a big plus. The 10+ hour battery life means that you can have a seriously long wireless gaming session without the worry of the battery failing.

The Logitech Gaming Software can be configured to ensure you get the best out of the headset for the game / music that you are currently listening to; unfortunately the lack of profiles on the sound adjustment page to me is one of the headset / software’s faults.
